How some people can achieve high levels of performance more than most of the others?
Is it about genes? Is it innate talent?
Are those people are gifted or so lucky that they have found themselves born with special gifts?
It’s so easy for all humans to think that way about top performers in all fields for three major reasons:
1 people feel that life is missing something magical and that magical thing is represented in those people with strange gifts and talents.
2 people find it easier to believe about those weird talents and freak of nature than they would believe about hard and persistent work.
3 people find excuses in this theory for themselves not to put their effort in doing something as way to excel. They avoid that feeling of guilt for not doing that kind of effort in doing something.
After all, they are not born with talents like intelligence for Einstein, golf as Tiger Woods or writing talent in Ben Franklin.
Are we born with gifts and genes for each profession and skill?
I mean are doctors are directed to study medicine because they have those medical skills and engineers are made that way because they have this mathematical way of thinking?
If it was that way and professions are something like genetic destiny for each one of us, then where would be the people who were skilled blacksmith in the 21st century?
Or on the other hand why genes of nuclear physicists didn’t appear in the 17th century?
The twenty thousand human genomes can describe how we look (our outer shape) initially but cannot control neurological connections between those hundred billion neurons connected with quadrillion synapses forming huge neural networks.
The secret of success is not a secret anymore. The secret to success is hard work and deliberate practice.
So why most people are not successful?
Not enough hard work or hard work without enough deliberate practice.
Most people only focus on their daily jobs to make living and forget how they can excel in different areas of life.
Although they might start their carriers with passion for such specific carrier or profession and they can excel at first in such carriers.
But as the time passes, they shift to work on the autopilot mode so they don’t progress anymore.
They reach the OK plateau and forget the essence and meaning of life.
I’ve seen many engineers and pilots who entered aviation field as a passion and really they have succeeded to an extent in their carriers.
But then they were caught in daily life and what they forget about the magic of flying and all what they remembered was the problems and the monthly paycheck.
By the time they forget happiness and only feel the boredom. Their souls are being gradually imprisoned inside the cage of daily job.
Add to all of this that corporate jobs are not designed to make you neither creative nor happy.
They are by definition meant to make you shut down your brain and switch to the autopilot mode to make certain tasks that guarantee profits from the owner point of view.
Find your self to thrive and to be happy again. Find happiness and then it will bring success. Look for what makes you happy and then it will bring profits.
